Time has come to decide on our nation’s future

-

AFTER months of campaigning, the people of Britain have been heading to the polls to decide the future of the nation’s place within the European Union.

As the Observer hit the shelves on Thursday, June 23, Hyndburn residents were due to be making their way to polling stations right across the borough.

The vote has been described as the biggest political decision of a generation, with polls suggesting that the vote is on a knife edge.

Hyndburn MP Graham Jones is backing Remain.

He said: “It was Bill Clinton who said ‘it’s the economy stupid’.

“I believe we could face a disastrous economic picture should we vote to leave because we will give up all our trading advantages and have to pay costly tariffs.

Coun Tony Dobson, Hyndburn Conservative leader, is backing Leave.

He said: “Although there will be a short term economic slump, I think on balance we could be an economic powerhouse if we pull out of the EU - and you have power back in your hands.

“The EU is so unbalanced I don’t think it will ever work.”

You can cast your all important vote at one of these Hyndburn polling stations:
