ANN Breckell nee Fenton died on Sunday, June 19, peacefully after a long battle with dementia, aged 76.

She was the beloved wife of Harry, dearly loved mum of Pamela, devoted grandma to Chloe and Leah, also a dear sister, sister-in-law, auntie and friend.

Ann worked at Hambledon Mill from leaving school until it closed down and then at Hilden’s Mill until she retired.

She loved bingo, caravannin­g and holidays to Benidorm. Ann was also a very keen line dancer with her husband Harry.

A service will take place at Accrington Crematoriu­m on Thursday, June 30 at 3pm.

Family flowers only please but donations, if desired, made payable to Alzheimer’s Disease Society.

Funeral director: Kirby and Hughes Funeral Service. MRS Mary Hallworth, of Henley House, Whalley Road, Accrington died on Wednesday, June 15, aged 94.

She served in the Women’s Royal Army Corp during WW2, stationed on Walney Island, Barrow-in-Furness where she met her future husband Charlie.

She worked at Allspeeds, Clayton-leMoors and Warburtons Bakery as a wages clerk. Her hobbies and interests included holidays abroad with husband Charlie, listening to music and going to bingo.

She leaves son Melvyn and daughter-in-law Eileen, granddaugh­ter Amelia and husband Stephen, greatgrand­children Isaac, Gracia and Jasper, step-grandchild­ren and many friends.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 28 at 1.40pm at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

Family flowers only MISS Marion Sharples, of Springhill Care Home, Accrington died on Thursday, June 16 at Springhill Care Home, aged 84.

She worked at Bancroft Shuttles & Bobbins, Blackburn as a secretary from 1948 to the 1960s and was the head of Maths at Darwen Grammar School in the 1960s until her retirement in 1987.

She was a member of the Ernest Street Baptist Chapel and later at Church Evangelica­l Fellowship in York Street, Church.

Her hobbies and interests included walking and sewing. She enjoyed church activities and was a regular visitor to Keswick Convention for Foreign Languages – she learned German and Spanish.

She leaves her sister-inlaw Joyce, and nephews David, Philip and Paul and their families.

Her funeral service, conducted by Philip Elson, followed by cremation, will be held on Tuesday, June 28 at 11am at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

Family flowers only MR Richard Coombey, of Blackpool Street, Church, died peacefully in the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Thursday, June 16, aged 67.

Richard was a hard worker and during his life worked for Zurrer and more recently Rishton Welding, where he stayed up until his retirement. He was also a member of James Street and the Straits Club for many years.

He leaves his much loved niece Lisa and her husband Glyn, his dear brother-in-law Barry and also his treasured great-nieces Abbie, Emillie and Ruby.

Richard will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. A celebratio­n of life service will take place on Monday, June 27 at 2.20pm at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

RAYMOND KAY

MR Raymond Kay, of Sherbourne Road, Baxenden died on Sunday, June 19, aged 78.

A retired sheet metal worker, he worked at numerous companies including Bradshaw’s, SS Stotts and Caswells.

He retired from Coates Engineerin­g Group in 1997.

He loved to spend time with his family and their pet dogs and enjoyed line-dancing with his late wife Maureen and loved all kinds of music.

Husband of the late Maureen Kay, he leaves children Linda, Ian and Gina and their partners Fran, Susan and Neil, grandchild­ren Adam, Luke, Robyn, Marcus, Jorjia, Ryan and Lauren, and great-grandchild­ren Ava and Theo.

His funeral service, conducted by Roger Parker followed by cremation, will be held on Thursday, June 30 at 2.20pm at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

Family flowers only please with donations to the British Heart Foundation or Cancer Research UK.

BRIAN SMITH

MR Brian Smith, of Ribblesdal­e Avenue, Accrington, died on Thursday, June 16, aged 72.

Brian was born and raised in Burnley and later moved to live in Huncoat.

He spent most of his working life shared between Redac brickworks and Nori Brickworks in Huncoat for over 25 years in total. He then went to work for Hyndburn Borough Council as a gardener, working at Mercer Park in Clayton-le-Moors where he spent a number of years up to his retirement.

He had allotments at both Miller Fold, Accrington and Hill Street, Baxenden where he grew his own fruit, veg and flowers.

He was a keen reader, mostly of gardeningr­elated books. Over the years he, along with his wife Barbara, enjoyed regular holidays to Blackpool. He also enjoyed a flutter on the dogs.

He liked listening to music, especially from the 60s and 70s.

Brian enjoyed watching television, particular­ly documentar­ies, and he was also a very keen cyclist.

Husband of Barbara, he was father of Jean and Wendy, grandad of Emma, Jamie, Bethany and Callum, greatgrand­ad of Alfie and Millie, father-in-law of Tony, brother of Leslie and his wife Roselyn.

A funeral service will be held at Accrington Crematoriu­m on Monday, June 27 at 11am conducted by the Rev Ian Endicott.
