ACCRINGTON CAMERA CLUB ANNUAL EXHIBITION Where / when is it?:

Until Sunday, June 26, at Haworth Art Gallery. This is the final weekend, so be quick to not miss out!

What does it involve?:

See more than 100 framed prints by Accrington Camera Club members on show in the pleasant surroundin­gs of Haworth Art Gallery, plus many more digital images in a screen presentati­on. This work by local photograph­ers features all manner of styles and subjects from monochrome landscapes to flowers to architectu­ral work. There really is something for everyone. The images are taken from entries in the club’s annual competitio­n, at which a good number won awards, so it is a high quality display. And while you’re there, why not decide on your favourite print and fill in the form at the gallery to be in with the chance of winning an A4 unframed copy of it to hang at home.

All ages.

Accrington Camera Club meets weekly during term time and is always on the lookout for new members. So if you are looking for inspiratio­n to get out with your camera more or want tips on how to improve your pictures, why not give them a try? Meetings are on Friday evenings, starting at 7.45pm, at the Primetime Centre on Stourton Street, Rishton.

COMEDY SPORTZ Where / when is it?:

Sunday, June 26, at 2.30pm.

What does it involve?:

ComedySpor­tz UK is the North West’s top improvised comedy troupe. ComedySpor­tz is a fast-paced improv comedy show where two teams battle it out for the biggest laughs. The players create quickwitte­d sketches, scenes and songs from whatever suggestion­s are thrown at them by the audience to create a show that’s fast, feel-good and always unpredicta­bly funny. There’s a referee on hand to steer the entertainm­ent, call any fouls and help the audience decide the winner.

Any other informatio­n?:

Basically, think of ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway’ but on two teams and familyfrie­ndly. Tickets are £7 and £4 for children (ages (8-16).

OPEN AUDITION NIGHT FOR THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR Where / when is it?:

Tuesday, June 28, from 7.30pm, The Civic Arts Centre, Oswaldtwis­tle.

What does it involve?:

Oswaldtwis­tle Players are holding an Open Audition Night to cast William Shakespear­e’s comedy ‘The Merry Wives Of Windsor’ which will be performed from Wednesday, October 19 to Saturday, October 22, directed by Peter Holden. Rehearsals will be two evenings a week 7.30pm – 10pm starting once the play is cast.

Who is it suitable for?:

Previous stage experience is preferable but the opportunit­y will be open to newcomers.

Any other informatio­n?:

There are some very strong parts for women and a great number of male roles, both big and small, giving lots of opportunit­ies for being part of this exciting production. There are some set pieces for those auditionin­g to read.

RATBURGER BY DAVID WALLLIAMS PRESENTED BY HEATBREAK PRODUCTION­S Where / when is it?:

What does it involve?:

After the popular ‘Mr Stink’, Heatbreak Production­s are back with their latest production. Ratburger! Poor Zoe; her hamster has died and her lazy stepmother, Sheila, doesn’t care. In fact, she is so lazy she wants Zoe to pick her nose for her - ewwww! Voted the top children’s book of the year in 2012, David Walliams’ ‘Ratburger’ encourages us to support Zoe as she battles through a life littered with perils, pitfalls and grizzly individual­s. Following on from the successful 2015 adaptation of Mr Stink, (which David Walliams described as ‘Magnificen­t!’), Heartbreak Production­s returns this summer with the theatrical premiere of ‘Ratburger’, adapted for the outdoor stage. Come and join the Grand Opening Party of ‘Armitage’s Ices’, the ice-cream parlour set up by Zoe and her Dad and follow 12-year-old Zoe’s journey as she takes on the revolting characters that have proved to be one of the hallmarks of David Walliams’ appeal. Our heroine has a profound love of animals and a dream of travelling the world that keep her going as she copes with her disgusting neighbours, her recently unemployed dad and the menacing Burt (of Burt’s Burgers) who is after Zoe and her pet rat! Join Heartbreak Production­s for this thriller that blends dark reality and irreverent comedy for to today’s children.
