A double celebration and commemoration THE Haworth, Accrington is thrilled to announce a double celebration of winning the Tourism Business of The Year at the Hyndburn Business Awards and receiving a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor.

As well as attracting new visitors to the borough and promoting the Haworth as a tourist attraction, both awards recognise our impeccable service and dedication to customer requirements.

Heather Leisman, vice president of industry marketing, TripAdvisor commented: ‘With the Certificate of Excellence, TripAdvisor honours hospitality businesses that have consistently received strong praise and ratings from travellers’.

The whole team of staff and volunteers at the Haworth are thrilled that their hard work has been recognised.

The next exhibition at the Haworth is ‘We Shall Remember Them’ which is dedicated to all those who perished in WW1, especially the Accrington PALS.

The exhibition tells the private and poignant stories of heroism and horror faced by these individuals, including the story of ‘The Boy Soldier’ who lied about his age and joined up at 14 years of age, the squalor of life in the trenches and the fight for survival against all odds.

The exhibition also tells the story of early aviation and its role in battle, from reconnaissance vehicles to weapons of mass destruction and how the individual pilots and planes developed into what we now know at the Royal Air Force.

The exhibition is open to the public from Friday, July 1, with an official launch with the Mayor and Mayoress of Hyndburn on Saturday, July 9, at 11am; everyone will be welcome to attend.

The Gallery Kitchen is now open from 11am Tuesday to Sunday for brunch, lunch and afternoon tea and every Friday and Saturday evening from 5.30pm to 8.30pm with a delicious bistro menu, telephone 01254 491660 to book a table.
