LANCASHIRE LEAGUE ROUND-UP MATT JONES

CHURCH beat Bacup by 45 runs at Blackburn Road to book their place in the quarter finals of the Lancashire League’s T20 competitio­n after maintainin­g their 100 per cent win record in the Blond Witch Group.

Bacup won the toss and choose to field.

Captain Levi Wolfenden top scored with 72 while Bilal Abbas added 34 and profession­al Zain Abbas 33 as Church posted 163-4.

Profession­al Haseeb Azam (1-19), Sam Lord (1-25), L Donovan (1-40) and Lee Naylor (1-48) all took one wicket each.

In reply, Zain Abbas (3-19) and Bilal Abbas (2-28) saw Church restrict Bacup to 118-8 after being 60-1.

Haseeb Azam topscored with the 40 before being removed by fellow profession­al Abbas.

Lowerhouse have moved up to second in the Blond Witch Group after they beat Accrington by 34 runs at Liverpool Road.

Accrington won the toss and decided to field in a match that was reduced to 19.3 overs.

Profession­al Dieter Klein top-scored with 38 while Joe Halstead added 34, Ben Heap 18, Charlie Cottam 13 and Adam Hugill 13 not out as Lowerhouse posted 155-7.

Jake Clarke picked up 2-43 while Keiran Grimshaw (1-16), David Ormerod (1-23) and Jimmy Hayhurst (1-23) picked up one wicket each.

Paddy Martin then took 4-30 as Lowerhouse restricted Accrington to 121-6.

Meanwhile, Rishton beat Todmorden by five top scored while Keiran contribute­d and Stuart wickets as Rishton moved up to third.

Todmorden won the toss and choose to bat. Ben Sutcliffe top scored with 59, while Ben Pearson added 24, Simon Newbitt 18 and Elliot Gilford 10 as Todmorden posted 135-5.

Brad Boddie took 2-32 and profession­al Shaun Von Berg only went for 0-13 in his four overs.

Rain meant that Rishton’s target was reduced to 66 runs in 10 overs. Matt Leathert top scored with 17 while Von Berg added 11 as Rishton got over the line in the last over.

Hamza Ali took 2-7 and Andrew Sutcliffe 2-28.

In the Pride of Pendle Group, Enfield have moved up to third after they comfortabl­y beat Haslingden by 65 runs at Dill Hall Lane.

Enfield won the toss and elected to bat. Profession­al Diego Rosier top scored with 59, while Joe Wrigley added 41, Tiarnen Hamill 17 and Charlie Jackson 13 as Enfield posted 153-5.

Babar Naeem took 3-22 off his four overs.

Chris Bowness then took 4-11 and Ben Dowling 2-16 as Enfield restricted Haslingden to 88-8. Alex Marcroft top scored with 30.

Enfield progressed to the semi finals of the Worsley Cup after they comfortabl­y beat Rawtenstal­l by 173 runs at the Worswick Memorial Ground. Enfield won the toss and elected to bat.

Openers Joe Wrigley and Charlie Jackson added 51 for the first wicket until Rizwan Shafiq sent back Liam Bedford (37). With the score on 65-1, Rizwan Shafiq then sent back Liam Bedford (5) and profession­al Diego Rosier (0) to leave Enfield 65-3 with Joe Wrigley and Adam Bracewell at the crease.

The pair then added a partnershi­p worth 141 which saw Enfield move on to 206-3 before Wrigley fell for 78 which contained eight fours and a six.

Bracewell then fell 28 runs later for 83 as he was stumped by Nick Payne off the bowling of Keith Roscoe.
