Name of business: La Chocolatin­a.

What do you do?: We hand-make artisan chocolates.

What prompted you to start your own business?: Passion for handmade local produce. What did you do before

this?: Liz still works for the NHS full-time. Al was part-owner in a technical training centre – he sold his shares last year.

What do you think sets your products apart from the rest?: The care we take in making our chocolates and the delicious flavours we produce.

Whatmost aboutdo you doing enjoy this?:the The satisfacti­on in creating something our customers love.

How long have you been in the business?: Twelve months.

What’s the best thing about Accrington?: Its history and community spirit.

Where is your favourite place in Accrington?: Warner Street in the Victorian Arcade.

What’s the funniest or most unusual thing to have happened while you’ve been in the business?: A customer asking if we had any egg timers in stock!

If you could choose anyone, who would be your dream client/ customer and why?: The Hairy Bikers – they have passion for local foods and their love of motorcycle­s (Al has ridden motorbikes from being a young child).

What was your first job?: Al was a car mechanic. Liz started YTS (Youth Training Scheme) now known as an apprentice in an office.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking of setting up in business?: If your are passionate about it and believe in yourself and have done your homework then do it!
