New ice cream parlour proves a cool hit

-

JUST in time for summer, a new ice cream parlour has opened in Great Harwood.

Mojo’s on Church Street held its official open day last weekend and has already proved a big hit with local residents.

Former cleaning company boss Mark Birtwistle said he is excited about starting the new business and hopes it will bring something different to the town.

Mark, 45, said: “I had done cleaning for quite a number of years and decided last summer that it wasn’t for me any more.

“I wanted a new venture and found a good location here.

“A lot of people tend to think these businesses do all right. It’s designed around what people love to buy at the moment.

“When the weather has been fine it has been really, really popular. The kids have been loving it.”

The shop serves more than 20 different ice cream flavours and ‘every kind of milkshake you can imagine’.

Chef Gary Ainsworth has also joined the business to serve up crepes and waffles.

Mark, who has lived in Great Harwood for 36 years, said: “Since we opened, the public have warmly embraced it and I am utterly grateful for what they’ve done so far.

“I can’t thank people enough for the response we’ve had.

“They are saying it’s great that there is something new in Great Harwood.

“A lot of people are concerned it’s just becoming charities and empty shops.”
