Bacup blitz sees Rishton move up

RISHTON thrashed Bacup by 158 runs at Lanehead to go seventh in the league. Bacup won the toss and decided to field in a match reduced to 46 overs.

Rishton profession­al Shaun Von Berg hit an unbeaten 113 not out while Brad Boddie added 49 as Rishton posted 213-8. Haseeb Azam (3-58) and Matt Thompson (3-67) both picked up three wickets.

Kelly Mall took 6-18 and Von Berg 4-31 as Bacup were bowled out for 55 after being 15-0.

The home side were 31-9 before Matt Ramshead top scored with 13 as he added 24 with Lee Naylor nine not out.

Nelson comfortabl­y beat Enfield by 108 runs at Seedhill. Enfield won the toss and elected to field.

Nelson profession­al Ryan Bailey hit an unbeaten 109 while contributi­ons from Harrison Phelan (53), Lewis Bradley (22) and Russell Bradley (12) saw Nelson post 231-5 in 43 overs.

Lewis Wright (2-40) and Simon O’Loughin (2-46) both picked up two wickets.

Harrison Phelan (3-14) and Toxy Hussain (3-35) picked up three wickets each as Nelson bowled out Enfield for 123 in 35.5 overs. Adam Bracewell top scored with 28, while Joe Wrigley added 27 and Ben Dowling 16.

Todmorden beat Accrington by 10 runs at Thorneyhol­me Road. Accrington won the toss and choose to field in a game that was reduced to 29 overs per side.

Todmorden profession­al Ashton Turner top scored with 58, while Simon Newbitt hit 37 and Elliot Gilford 11 as Todmorden posted 143-8. Simon Hanson took his career best figures of 6-62.

Turner then took 3-72 and Matt Collins 2-25 as Todmorden restricted Accrinton to 133-6.

Keiran Grimshaw top scored with 48, whilst Jake Clarke added 30, Ali Hasham 16 not out and Jon Hayhurst 10 not out.

Meanwhile, Church beat Colne by 11 runs a close game at Blackburn Road.

Church won the toss and decided to field in a game that was reduced to 41 overs.

Profession­al Zain Abbas top scored with 71 while Sam Holt hit an unbeaten 53 not out as Church posted 144-6.

Danny Kegg picked up 2-23 and John Lambert 2-61.

Levi Wolfenden then took 4-40 and Zain Abbas 3-39 as Colne fell eleven runs short of Church’s target. Kegg top scored with 31, while profession­al Yaseen Vallie added 30 and Sam Tillotson 17.

There was only one game in the T20 competitio­n on Friday which saw the final round of the group stages.

In the Blond Witch Group, Burnley finished as winners with ten points, Enfield in second, East Lancs in third and Ramsbottom in fourth. All the games in the Blond Wicth Group on Friday were abandoned.

Meanwhile, in the Pride of Pendle group Church have qualified as group winners undefeated, Lowerhouse took up second place and Rishton third.

Todmorden picked up fourth place which came down to their match against Accrington. Going into the game Accrington were on five points and Todmorden four points.

Todmorden have qualified for the quarter finals of the T20 competitio­n as they beat Accrington by 10 wickets at Thorneyhol­me Road.

Todmorden won the toss and choose to bat in a game that was reduced to 11 overs. Keiran Grimshaw top scored with 31, while profession­al Ockert Erasmus added 21 and Graeme Sneddon (12) as Accrington posted 82-6.

Profession­al Ashton Turner picked up (3-24), whilst Graeme Lalor took (2-22) and Matt Collins (1-8).

In reply, Turner smashed an unbeaten 54 which came of just 22 balls including five fours and four sixes as Todmorden chased down Accrington’s target in just 5.3 overs to book a place in the quarter finals. Simon Newbitt hit 15 not out.
