NEIL Wagner is keen to return to Lancashire next season.

The overseas bowler has just one County Championship match left for the Red Rose this season before he joins up with New Zealand.

Having been called up for the Blackcaps’ tour of Zimbabwe and South Africa, it had been hoped he could return for Lancashire’s final two Championship matches this year.

However, the Kiwis have just announced another series with India in September which means Wagner will leave Lancashire after the match with Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge this week.

“Lancashire’s been awesome to me,” said Wagner.

“It’s a great place to play, a great bunch of lads and a great environment. The ground and facilities are world-class too.

“I’ve loved every minute of it. The coaches, players, management, everybody’s been high-class.

“Making some new mates and playing with them on this journey, I couldn’t have asked for anything more. It’s been really good.

“I’d definitely love to come back. I wouldn’t say no, depending on how the international schedule works.

“I don’t think we’ve got an overseas tour during the summer here.

“That means there’s a possibility to play here again.

“If Lancs want me, I’d happily come and try to do the same as what I have done. I’m excited to be getting back to the New Zealand team, so it’s bittersweet for me to leave.

“To get a Test call is amazing. I love playing for my country.

“We’ve had some pretty special times recently.

“At the same time, I’m sad to leave here.”
