By taking part in events such as this allows the players to learn the importance of team work, respect and social skills.

Everyone involved was treated to leek soup made by East Lancs People First who had spent the morning over a hot stove!

At the end of the tournament Winstanley presented the players with medals and certificates to all the teams. It was very gratifying to see different members of the community come together to make this an outstanding tournament and raise the profile of disability football.

Amy Bland Female Football Development Officer, said: “It was lovely to see the confidence that being part of this tournament has given the players.

“Events such as these allow people to develop new friendships while having fun.”
