All aboard for a novel railway tale of Ratty, Mole, Mr Toad and co
Wind In The Willows East Lancashire Railway, Friday 29 July
With such a vast array of shows, events and museums to choose from, parents couldn’t be blamed for feeling somewhat overwhelmed about where to take their young children over the summer.
It’s a dilemma that’s easily solved by this weekend’s production of Wind In The Willows at the East Lancashire Transport Museum.
A fantastic example of how to kill two birds with one stone, the production – courtesy of Attic Door Productions – combines both a children’s theatre show AND a tour around a railway museum in one tidy package.
Kenneth Grahame’s iconic story – concerning the adventures of four riverside companions: Mole, Ratty, Badger and, of course, the eponymous Mr Toad – has been adapted for the stage on numerous occasions, but the idea of performing it inside a museum is certainly a novel one.
Combining music, puppetry and audience interactions, each show will be performed in a promenade format with the audience moving around the museum along with the four friends to experience the adventure.
Given the sell-out success of Attic Door’s last promenade production – a superlative adaptation of Alice In Wonderland last summer – we’d suggest you purchase your tickets ASAP to avoid disappointment. Tickets are priced £8 adults, £5 children; book online at eastlancsrailway.org.uk.
