-

A CHARITY marketer has been named as one of the women of the future in the Northern Power Women (NWP) top 50 Future list.

Chelsea Crossey, who works as a marketing graduate for Child Action Northwest (CANW) was nominated in the inaugural list, which recognises influencers, leaders and change makers of the future, who are already making a difference in their environments and communities.

The 22-year-old from Whalley Road in Accrington, graduated from UCFB in Burnley last year with a BA (Hons) in football business and marketing.

After leaving, she secured a position at CANW, the Wilpshire based charity provides foster care and a range of support and wellbeing services to help improve the lives of children, young people and families across East Lancashire.

Since joining CANW, she has been involved in a number of campaigns including 1,200 Lights, a campaign to raise awareness of the need for 1,200 extra foster care families in the north west.

The campaign saw some of the region’s best-loved attractions fall into darkness to highlight the plight.

Chelsea’s day-to-day work includes providing marketing, communication activities and campaign support for all the charity’s services.

She said: “I learnt from all my placements and opportunities at UCFB is that I have a passion for people, and after graduation from UCFB I was very lucky to have gained an amazing graduate opportunity at Child Action Northwest.

“When I received an e-mail from Northern Power Women saying that I had made the top 50 future list for the Northern Power Awards I was so shocked, but so proud of myself.

“I’m very fortunate to have gained a great mentor and director at Child Action Northwest who is helping and supporting me in reaching beyond my potential.

“My aim for the future is to continue to try my best at CANW and support services knowing that I am helping support the charity make a difference to young people across the north west.”

Martin Hartley-Smith business and marketing director at CANW said: “Chelsea has been a real breath of fresh air, proactively looking at how we can improve our marketing activities.

“She is always so positive and willing to get stuck in to any task that she is given, no matter how small or large, she gives it her all every time.”
