Church suffer defeat at home to champions

CHURCH were beaten by Burnley by 86 runs at Blackburn Road. Burnley won the toss and elected to bat.

David Brown hit an unbeaten 127 as the last season’s champions posted 230-6. Profession­al Chris Holt also hit 71. Kamran Basharat picked up 3-62.

Holt then took 6-59 and Bharat Tripathi 3-34 as Church were bowled out for 144 in 44.1 overs.

Profession­al Zain Abbas (40) and Josh Scully (39) added 73 for the first wicket until the home team collapsed from 73-0 to 144-10. Craig Fergusson added 19 not out.

Accrington were wellbeaten against Lowerhouse by 135 runs at Liverpool Road.

Lowerhouse won the toss and elected to bat.

They racked up the runs as contributi­ons from Paddy Martin (49 not out), Charlie Cottam (48), Jon Finch (45), profession­al Dieter Klein (38), Ben Heap (35) and Joe Halstead (19) saw Lowerhouse post 275-6. Jake Clarke picked up 3-52.

Joe Hawke then picked up 3-7, Paddy Martin 2-7, Jon Finch 2-25 and Halstead 1-21 as Lowerhouse bowled Accrington out for 140 in 32 overs.

Keiran Grimshaw top scored with 54 whilst profession­al Ockert Erasmus added 25 before Accrington fell from 103-2 to 14010.

Ramsbottom beat Enfield by 92 runs at Dill Hall Lane. Ramsbottom won the toss and elected to bat. Profession­al Daryn Smit top scored with 100 not out as the visitors posted 165-5 in 50 overs. Callum Kay also added 20 and Tom Parton 12. Liam Jackson took 2-24 and Ben Dowling 1-21.

Smit then took 6-11, which saw him bring up his 200th Lancashire League wicket as Enfield were bowled out for 73 in 30 overs.

Simon Read also took 3-14. Profession­al Diego Rosier top scored with 18 and Adam Bracewell added 16.

Rishton were beaten by four wickets at home to Nelson.

Rishton won the toss and elected to bat. Harrison Phelan (3-15), Toxy Hussain (3-20) and Neil Thompson (3-28) all took three wickets as Rishton were bowled out for 120 in 48 overs.

Brad Boddie top scored with 25, profession­al Shaun Von Berg 19 and Matt Nuttall 11.

David Crotty then hit an unbeaten 77 as Nelson chased down Rishton’s target in 39.4 overs.

Shaun Von Berg took 3-24 and Scott Greaves 2-17 but they couldn’t prevent victory as contributi­ons from Toxy Hussain (16) and Phelan (9) saw Nelson over the line.
