NEW Accrington Stanley signing Luke Wall plans on putting a difficult summer behind him after joining the club.

The 19-year-old winger has signed a one-year deal with the Reds, with an option of a further year.

He has joined after his release from Championship side Blackburn Rovers, where Wall came through the youth academy.

He was shocked when he was told he was being let go, but he insists he’s only looking to the future now that he’s arrived at Stanley.

“I have played at Blackburn since I was in the U14s and made it to the U21s,” he told the club’s official website.

“There were obviously quite a few changes at the club and quite a few of us got released at the end of last season and it was a bit unexpected.

“My agent got in touch with Accrington and I have been on trial and thankfully it’s a relief to get a contract sorted out.”

Wall is good friends with John O’Sullivan, who spent time on loan at the Wham Stadium in the past.

The new recruit spoke to O’Sullivan about Stanley, and was more than happy to sign after hearing positive things.

“I spoke to John and he said what a good club it is. It’s good as well that there are a few Scousers to travel in with which has helped me settle in quickly.”

Wall also hopes that he will be able to force his way into becoming a regular in the starting 11 this season.

“It’s important for me to play first team football now. It’s a lot more physical and will be more beneficial than playing U21 football,” he said.

“I can play on either wing although I am primarily left-footed. Hopefully, if I get a chance, I can put plenty of crosses in.”
