MR David Harold Dyson, of Foster Street, Accrington died suddenly on Saturday, July 16 at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 76.

Born in Huddersfie­ld, he moved with family to Blackpool before settling in Accrington.

David worked for all his life as an HGV driver with British Road Services (BRS) and latterly Christian Salvesen before taking early retirement in 1996 due to ill health.

He leaves his much loved wife Elizabeth of 52 years, along with his sons Andrew and Ian, daughter-in-law Iona, grandson Jonathan, step-brother Trevor, nephew David and partner Kathy, niece Kathryn and husband David and nephew Stephen. He was greatuncle to Rob and Patrick and brother-in-law to Gill.

He greatly enjoyed spending time with family and often travelled to Edinburgh, Portsmouth and Blackpool with his wife Elizabeth to visit them.

David leaves many lifelong friends from his hobbies and interests and he was well-known by neighbours and always liked to stop for a chat.

His lifelong passion was railway photograph­y and his photograph­s have been widely published in books and magazines. David travelled overseas including South Africa and Germany to follow his hobby. He was a former chairman of Hyndburn Model Railway Group and still enjoyed building model engines.

Special thanks to family, friends and neighbours for all the condolence­s, cards and flowers.

His wife would like to thank Dr Sail and staff at Accrington Victoria Health Access Centre and also the paramedics and staff at Accident and Emergency, Royal Blackburn Hospital.

His funeral will take place on Friday, July 29 at 11am at Accrington Crematoriu­m. Family flowers only with donations to Lancashire Air Ambulance c/o Hyndburn Funeral Services.
