Action-packed camp weekend for 1st All Saints Scout group

-

YOUNGSTERS from the 1st Clayton-le-Moors All Saints Scout group enjoyed an action-packed weekend camp.

Around 100 Beavers, Scouts and Cubs travelled to Waddow Hall near Clitheroe and took part in a variety of activities including caving, climbing, abseiling, crate stacking, grass sledging, night line, low ropes course and tree climbing.

The Scouts also visited Battlestorm laser tag in Clitheroe and went on a night hike along the River Ribble, returning back to camp in the early hours of the morning.

Claire Rothwell, Beaver Scout leader, said: “For some of the younger children it was their first night away from home, while others were seasoned campers having many nights away at camp under their belts.

“Without a doubt it was an adventure for each and every one of them, with lots of opportunities to try out new activities.”

She added: “Many of the activities involved the children working as a team, including crate stacking, where two children at a time climb a tower of crates while some of the team build the stack higher and higher until the stack topples over and the children are left dangling mid air before being lowered to the ground by their team mates.

“Several of the children also managed to scale the giant 60ft tree, encouraged by cheers from their friends on the ground below, before abseiling back to earth.”
