Church get a battering

TODMORDEN thrashed Church by eight wickets at Centre Vale.

Church won the toss and elected to bat. Profession­al Ashton Turner took 4-5 and Graeme Lalor 3-25 as Church were bowled out for 89 in 29.3 overs.

Church profession­al Zain Abbas top-scored with 40, while Bilal Abbas added 15 but no other Church batsmen reached double figures.

Todmorden then chased down Church’s target in 18.2 overs. Which was helped by contributi­ons from Simon Newbitt (22), Ben Sutcliffe (19), Ashton Turner (17 not out) and Kristain Garland (16 not out). Kamran Basharat picked up 2-43.

Enfield beat Colne by 67 runs at Dill Hall Lane. Colne won the toss and elected to field. Danny Kegg took 4-32, John Lambert 3-36 and sub profession­al Ernest Kemm 2-31 as Colne bowled out Enfield for 130 in 46.2 overs. Adam Bracewell top scored with 38, while Lewis Wright added 19, Tiarnen Hamill 16 and Liam Bedford 13.

Ben Dowling then took 5-22 and Simon O’Loughin 4-39 as Colne were bowled out for 63 in 30 overs.

Neil Thompson took 6-23 as Nelson beat Accrington by eight wickets at Seedhill.

Accrington won the toss and elected to bat. Thompson was well supported by Sam Halstead (3-28) and Toxy Hussain (1-20) as Accrington collapsed from 50-2 to 77-10. In-form Keiran Grimshaw top scored with 24.

Nelson cruised to an eight-wicket victory as profession­al Ryan Bailey top scored with an unbeaten 37.

Jimmy Hayhurst took 2-21 as he claimed the wickets of David Crotty (4) and Lewis Bradley (1).

Rishton suprised title hopefuls Lowerhouse as they won by three wickets at Blackburn Road.

Lowerhouse batted first, captain Charlie Cottam (113) hit his maiden Lancashire League as Lowerhouse posted 207-10.

There were also contributi­ons from Ben Heap (25), Paddy Martin (17) and Joe Halstead (14).

Ever impressive Shaun Von Berg picked up 4-30 from 16.3 overs while Matt Lambert (2-57) and Danny Briggs (2-63) picked up two wickets each.

Von Berg then hit a match winning 98 not out.

Chris Lambert added 28, Ben Bridson 17 and Matt Lambert 12. There was also a total of 32 extras.

Dom Stuart (5-43) took his maiden five wicket haul but couldn’t prevent defeat.
