MR Allan Kevin Hornby, of Hyndburn Road, Church, died in hospital surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, August 14, aged 67 years.

Kevin worked all his life in the printing trade, including compositin­g, foil blocking and cut and crease.

He also worked in newspaper printing, later retiring from Messrs Ward Knowles.

Kevin had been a keen fisherman from being a small boy and enjoyed playing dominoes.

He was a member of the Hyndburn Pub Team, enjoyed TV, films and comedy but loved nothing more than being with his family and his loving grandchild­ren.

He leaves his wife Susan, children Andrew, David and Laura, and sister Susan.

He was the father-inlaw to Izzy, Heather and Matt.

He leaves his grandchild­ren Emmy and Daniel.

He was the stepson of Pat and the brother-in-law to Jim, his friend of many years, and also to the late Frank. He was also uncle to Mark, Julian and James.

His funeral service, conducted by Judith Talbot, was held on Thursday, August 25 at 3pm, at Accrington Crematoriu­m Chapel.

Family flowers only with donations to Multiple System Atrophy Trust (MSA).

BESSIE SHARPLES

BESSIE Sharples, of Church View nursing home, Oswaldtwis­tle, formerly of Milnshaw Gardens, Accrington died peacefully on Saturday, August 13 aged 94.

Bessie had numerous full and part time jobs, retiring as a care worker and later working part time at Lucky Shoe and Cancer Research well into her retirement in her eighties.

Her hobbies and interests included sewing, knitting, reading and crosswords, dominoes and bingo evenings at Milnshaw Gardens. She also enjoyed organised trips out, family celebratio­ns, rides out in the car to Cleveleys and shopping trips to Bury with her daughter-in-law Gillian on Saturdays.

The beloved mum of Neale and Steven, much loved mum-in-law of Gillian and Fay. A dearly devoted Nan to Jemma, Warren, Tess, Huw and a precious Great Nan of Isabella, Declan, Laila and Carley Rose. A good friend to many. Loving thanks to all staff and friends at Church View, Oswaldtwis­tle.

The funeral will take place today (Friday, August 26) at 11.40am at Accrington Crematoriu­m with a service followed by cremation officiated by Father Lawrence. Family flowers only, donations to Cancer Research UK. Funeral directors: Hyndburn Funeral Services.
