DRIVERS warned over new town centre one-way system (‘Traders fears over town road changes’, August 26) NATASHA De-Maine: Who knows how this will work until further down the line. May make it better or worse so judge later on rather than slag everything off. Would be interesting to see how the taxis follow this because they don’t follow the signs now! GILLIAN Bond: So the 20 new parking spaces include two disabled, two loading bays and a taxi rank. So if they are included in the 20 spaces exactly how many parking spaces are there for the ordinary driver? JANET McMillan: Well, at least people are being made aware of the road changes well in advance this time! No excuses for people driving the wrong way and claiming “I didn’t know!” A map would be more helpful to some people though, I’m sure. CAROL Baker: Still doesn’t help people who have to use the bus to get into town - it’s too far for some to walk from the bus station into the market! DAVID Isherwood: I hate one-way systems, it’s not Manchester. Open the Broadway back up and put some free parking in the centre of the town or the shops will all be boarded up soon.
