September will bring something for everyone

- EMMA HOLDEN

AFTER the quiet of summer, we are back with a bang this autumn, with a total of 10 events throughout September alone. There really is something for everyone at Oswaldtwistle Civic Arts Centre and Theatre.

The Simon and Garfunkel Story returns on Saturday, September 10. Using huge projection photos and original film footage, this 50th anniversary celebration also features a full live band performing all the hits. Tickets are £16 for this not-to-be-missed show.

It’s been a while since we welcomed The Houghton Weavers at The Civic, but they are returning on Saturday, September 17 and tickets are just £13. The Houghton Weavers are sure to entertain with their signature blend of popular folk music, humour and audience participation.

On Saturday, September 24, we welcome Rule the World, an award-winning Take That tribute band, for the first time to The Civic. The band not only sound, but look like the real thing and their performance creates the magic of being at a real concert. They’ll be performing all the greatest hits from the whole of Take That’s back catalogue.

We also have a number of community events during the month, starting with a night of mediumship on Thursday, September 15; tickets are just £10 and all profits will go to East Lancashire Hospice.

Friday, September 23, sees a group of local actors performing a tribute to Victoria Wood with an evening of her songs and sketches.

Tickets are £8.50 and all profits will go to Macmillan Cancer Research. Finally, on Friday, September 30, our Murder Mystery Night is back. Tickets are just £8.50 and that includes a Lancashire hotpot supper.
