THE Switch On Rishton group will hold a Christmas fundraisin­g event this weekend.

It will take place at the Rishton Conservati­ve Club on Saturday, September 3 from 8pm and include a disco, live music, potato pie supper and an auction.

Tickets cost £5 and proceeds will go towards this year’s Christmas festivitie­s.

NETBALL sessions have been organised in Rishton to get women back into playing the sport.

The ‘Back to Netball’ sessions are being run at Norden High School every Monday from 6pm to 7pm and are open to over 16s.

THE People’s Centre on School Street in Rishton are urgently appealing for volunteers.

Centre bosses said they need people to help with teas and coffees during the week and to help out at parties.

VOLUNTEER training and work skills courses are taking place at the Copperhous­e Children’s Centre in Rishton.

The three-week essential work skills course is aimed at helping people get back to work and provising up to date training so they are ‘work ready’.

Topics include health and safety, food hygience and lifting and handling.

It will run from Tuesday, October 11 between 1pm and 2pm and is delivered by Lancashire Adult Learning.

Entry is free but places must be booked.

Volunteer training sessions will start every Monday from September 19 between 9.30am and 11.30am and covers safeguardi­ng, policies and procedures.
