CASH-STRAPPED LCC’s spending on consultants under the microscope (‘Fury as council spends £1m to assess cuts’, October 7) Josh Blayne Allen: More proof that LCC leaders need to be voted out next year. All the current group know is how to waste money. Andrew Moxham: Again people in power are out of touch with the electorate when it comes to spending other people’s money. No problem they will just increase the community charge Mark Evans: Pretty much says everything you need to know about the LCC Julie Bottomley: Disgraceful TRIBUTES to wife of former Observer
Tributes have been paid to Dorothy Dawson following her death photographer Garth Dawson (‘Garth’s tribute to his beloved wife Dorothy’, October 7) Vera Walker: So sad to hear of Garth’s loss but what a good life they’ve had together. Condolences to Garth and his family. R.I.P. Dorothy, God Bless x Sheila Holloway: Dorothy was a lovely lady, condolences to all the family. Wayne Rushworth: Accrington Camera Club would like to send our heartfelt condolences. Janet Kenyon: Lovely lady, condolences to the family Pauline Mooster Golley: Lovely lady thoughts are with the family
HYNDBURN council pondering ban on takeaways within 400m of schools (Takeaway ‘restriction zone’ plan around schools, October 7) Lydia Maguire: Children don’t live at school! What is the point? Absolutely ridiculous! Keep the children in school at dinnertime, we were never allowed out of school grounds then after that it’s up to the parents Josh Blayne Allen: Ha, Hyndburn runs on takeaways. Its also unenforceable, are the council really gonna tell current businesses to move? Takeaways aren’t the problem, cheap corner shops are the problem Stephen Rawcliffe: Waste of time, will not make one iota of a difference, what about the rest of us do we have to go miles and miles to get what we want. It’s parents that are the problem not takeaways. Beverley Murray: I don’t think that would work takeaways aren’t usually open when school closes plus they deliver anyway, so really no point Valerie Edmondson: Quarter of a mile from the centre of Accrington would be better.
