Santa’s sleigh ready to make the rounds

THE Rotary Club of Church and Oswaldtwis­tle is planning another successful Santa campaign.

The club’s Santa’s sleigh makes an annual lap around Oswaldtwis­tle and surroundin­g areas. This year’s is from December 1 to 21, manned by a team of Rotary volunteers.

The sled has been refurbishe­d and looks smart in its new livery and illuminate­d signs, and has a new sound system.

Santa will be supporting the Christmas lights switch-on in Aspen Fold, West End on December 4.

Ken Freeman, fundraisin­g manager, said: “Taking Santa and the sleigh around the district is a project showing the real face of Rotary, and sincere thanks go to the public for contributi­ng so generously, usually in excess of £3,000 all of which goes to local, national and internatio­nal charities and good causes.”

ERNEST Street Baptist Chapel on Walmsley Close in Church will be hosting an Evening with Noel and Tricia Richards concert on Saturday, November 12, starting at 7.30pm.

OSWALDTWIS­TLE Mills will be hosting a Halloween Spooktacul­ar on Monday, October 31 from 10am-4pm.

The ‘Dead Famous’ Halloween show will include a music quiz and performanc­e by Martin Gregory Lambert, bringing back to life artists who defined their era in music.

FRIDAY Praise sessions at St Nicholas Primary School on Dill Hall Lane in Church will return after the half term break on Friday, November 18 and Friday, December 2 from 3.45pm.
