HAWORTH Art Gallery has put on display a fabulous series of photographs depicting the transformation of Haworth Stables Block and Motor House from derelict building to beautiful Art Studios.

The photographic recording project was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund as part of the overall investment it made in the refurbishment of the Stables and Motor House.

The photographic project was led by Harry Emmett and members of Accrington Camera Club, who worked with a group of young people from Hollins Technology College. Under the guidance of Accrington Camera Club, the young people learned photographic techniques and procedures, such as lighting, perspective and context to photograph the Haworth Stables and Motor House as it looked at the beginning of the project, the building process and official handing-over from HLF to Hyndburn Borough Council. Later photographs of artists occupying the Artists’ Studios were taken by Harry, also known as ‘The Coachman, Mr Beech’ as he guided groups of visitors around these historic buildings.

Members of the public are invited to look around the Stables and Motor House buildings, meet the artists in their studios and take part in activities led by The Art Garden in their Conservatory and Potting Shed premises during our grand Christmas Family Fun Day on Sunday, December 18, from noon to 4pm.

Refreshments will be available from the Gallery Kitchen, where a Christmas menu is now being served, please telephone 01254 491660 to book a table.

The gallery is open from noon to 4.45pm Tuesday to Friday and noon to 4.15pm Saturday, Sunday, free entrance and parking.
