CATHERINE Philamena Doyle, of Great Harwood, died peacefully in hospital on Tuesday, November 29, aged 88.

Born in Clayton-leMoors in 1928, Kathleen – as she was known - moved to Great Harwood with her family aged six years old and made it her home ever since. Her working life was spent and a shop assistant for various companies and she also ran her own shop on Railway View with her husband Eddie.

A talented lady who loved cake decorating, Kathleen could often be found in her kitchen creating her next masterpiec­e and she always provided her family each year with a delicious Christmas cake.

Kathleen also enjoyed knitting and often made clothes for her family members. Holidays were taken with other family members and they became known as ’The Golden Girls’ and enjoyed visiting Cornwall, Isle of Wight and Florida.

She enjoyed line dancing and Tai Chi and loved nothing more than getting her family together for a celebratio­n and always looked forward to Christmas.

A lifelong devoted member of St Wulstan’s RC Church she loved to be involved in church events and even travelled to Rome on a pilgrimage with her church friends and her granddaugh­ter Laura.

A loving lady with a fantastic sense of humour who will be greatly missed.

The devoted wife of the late Eddie, she was loving and much loved mum of Philip, Christophe­r and the late Frances, dear mother-in-law of Pauline, Lesley and Derek, cherished grandma of Sarah, Sue, Helen, Laura and Anthony and great-grandma of Lewis, Aaron, Isla, Lucy, Ryan, Amelia, Madeleine and Henry, and also a dear relative and good friend to many.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated in St Wulstan’s RC Church, Great Harwood on Friday, December 9 at 11am followed by committal at Accrington Crematoriu­m.
