Boss struggling to work out what’s wrong

-

ACCRINGTON Stanley manager John Coleman admits he is finding it tough working out just why the team are on a poor run of form.

The Reds boss has been frustrated over the past couple of weeks, with the team winning just one of their last 11 league games despite playing well in some of those games.

Accrington have also struggled to find the net, but Coleman hopes the team can finally start to earn what they deserve.

“Sometimes you are scratching your head as a manager as you do not get the points your performances deserve but we believe what we are doing is right and we are seeing positive signs,” he told the club’s official website. “We have good players, we are playing them in the right places but for whatever reason we haven’t been getting the results in the league.

“Hopefully we will turn this around and start looking up the table. We need to get ourselves into a position where we are not looking over our shoulder. Confidence is hammered when you don’t score goals – when you aren’t scoring goals it’s a recipe for any slump as obviously you can’t win and you are more likely to lose.

“It’s a simple formula – you have got to take your chances and keep them out at the other end but I think the longer you go without scoring the edgier the defence get and we need to ease that.

“We have a great belief in the way we play, we have a system and any tinkering will be done on the training ground.”
