Obsession with lack of goals is hurting us

STANLEY manager John Coleman believes the focus on his team’s lack of recent goals may be having an effect on the side.

Stanley have scored just two goals in their last nine league games, helping to make them the lowest scorers in the division.

A lot of attention has been put on the Reds for that reason, but Coleman thinks it could be leading to problems arising in other areas of the pitch for his side.

“We have got obsessed by the lack of goals and perhaps we need to take the focus away from that as concentrating on that can have an adverse effect,” he told the club’s official website.

“You have got to keep focused on what we are trying to achieve and to try and take the opportunities.

“You understand players will get nervous in front of goal but they are good players and one of the chances will come off and then we can kick on from there.

The players are desperate to play again. They are chomping at the bit because they want to show the public that they are better than what the results are saying at the moment.

“We know on our day we can be as good as any team in this league but we have to make more of those days.

“At the moment, we have plenty of time but we know we have got to get our act together resultswise or else we could run out of time.”
