MR James Devlin, of Hatfield Road, Accrington, died on Tuesday, January 24 aged 82.

Known as Jim, he was born in Glasgow in 1934.

At 18, he joined the RAF and was stationed at Dyce, Aberdeen, where he met ‘Margie.’

They later moved to Accrington where Jim continued his career at GEC as an aircraft fitter and later an inspector in engineerin­g. He also worked at Allspeeds but returned to GEC, where he later retired from.

Jim was an avid Celtic fan and often went to see his favourite team play in Glasgow, where they loved to also visit relatives.

Jim’s idol was Frank Sinatra, who he was fortunate enough to go and see. Both Jim and Margie attended regularly at St Joseph’s Church and had many friends who knew Jim as a true gentleman. He also knew how to tell a good joke or two, having a typical Glaswegian sense of humour. He enjoyed holidays abroad with Margie and also loved tending to their garden and spending time with family.

Husband of the late Marjory, father of Jim Jnr and Laura, he leaves grandchild­ren Sarah, Philip, Kerry, Jacob and Liam.

Requiem Mass was due to be held on Thursday, February 2 at 10.15am at St Joseph’s Church, Belgarth Road, Accrington followed by cremation at 11.40am at Accrington Crematoriu­m. No flowers, donations preferred for the Lung Foundation or Cancer Research c/o Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington.

ALLAN YEOMANS

MR Allan Yeomans passed away peacefully on Friday, January 27 at Royal Blackburn aged 82.

Allan worked for Accrington Borough Council as a works study officer, he attended Spring Hill and Wood Nook Schools and played football for Langbridge­s.

He was a keen bowler, snooker player and dancer later in life.

He leaves his beloved wife Nora and much loved sons Allan, David and Colin, and their wives and partners Helen, Emma and Joanna.

He had grandchild­ren Sarah, Lewis, Francesca, Benjamin, William and Oscar, nephews and nieces.

His funeral will take place on Monday, February 6 with Requiem Mass at St Mary’s RC Church, Haslingden at 10am followed by cremation at Accrington Crematoriu­m officiated by Fr David Lupton. Donations in memory of Allan are for Rossendale Hospice or Parkinsons UK c/o funeral director Josephine Durning for Johnson, Durning and Woods Funeral Service, Haslingden. MR Frederick Ingham passed away peacefully at home as he wished on Wednesday, January 25, aged 81.

Known as Eric or Rick, he was loved husband of the late Jean (née Aspinall), dad of Sue, Gramps of Cleo, Nancy, Otis and Jonny, father-inlaw of Steve and partner to Wendy. ‘Loved and respected by all’.

His funeral service will be held at 12.30pm on Friday, February 10, at Lytham Park Crematoriu­m.

BERNARD ROBERTS

MR Bernard Roberts passed away peacefully at his home in Accrington, on Thursday, January 26, aged 91.

Bernard served his national service with the Royal Air Force and later worked at Platt Saco as a department manager for all his working life and was a member of Probus for many years. He was also a long-standing Freemason and honorary member of three lodges. This was a big part of his life and he particular­ly enjoyed the masonic social events.

Bernard loved music and to sing and was a talented pianist. He was also a life member of Accrington Golf Club.

He could be spotted on the golf course three or four times per week playing 18 holes with his partners Jack, Ron and Jeff and over the last few years playing nine holes with Eric and Colin, between them winning several trophies.

Bernard also liked his football and was a member of Burnley Football Club and in his younger years played for Woodnook Amateurs. He was also a lifelong member of St Paul’s Church.

In his spare time, he enjoyed watching John Wayne cowboy films and war films. Bernard loved cruising and holidays to the Isle of Man and also to Llandudno. Bernard was truly devoted to his wife Joan and they particular­ly enjoyed their days out to Fleetwood together.

The dearly-loved husband of Joan and the late Mildred, he was loving step-father of Mark, loving step-grandad of Thomas and stepfather­in-law of Julie, brother of Olwyn and the late Dilys, a dear uncle and a good friend of many.

Bernard’s funeral service will take place at 11am on Wednesday, February 8, at St Paul’s Church, Accrington followed by committal at Accrington crematoriu­m at 12.20pm. Family flowers only please with donations in memory of Bernard on behalf of St Paul’s Church c/o Champ Funeral Services.

MICHAEL PRESTAGE

MR Michael Patrick Prestage, of Roegreave Road, Oswaldtwis­tle, died suddenly at home on Thursday, January 26, aged 56.

Mick – as he was known to his friends – was a time-served plasterer and was a well-known face around Oswaldtwis­tle, having managed his own plastering business for the last 25 years.

In his spare time Mick loved nothing better than spending time with his family. He also took time out by going on holiday, enjoying trips to Disney World, America and also the occasional cruise around the Mediterran­ean.

Mick loved listening to music, especially House, Northern Soul, Reggae and Rap, and was also a keen Blackburn Rovers fan.

Mick was the dearlylove­d son of Nora and the late Roland, a devoted dad of Courtney and Kayleigh, a much-loved brother of Noel, Kate and Madeline, a dear brotherin-law of Shirley, Stephen and Barry, a cherished uncle of Noel, Charlotte, Kirsty, Danny and Lauren.

Mick will be very sadly missed and fondly remembered by all his loving family and friends.
