Garden ‘supply cabin’ reopens for business

-

A COMMUNITY allotment and garden supply cabin is once again open for business.

The Baxenden Allotments and Gardens Society ‘Supply Cabin’ has opened its doors to the public to promote affordable and accessible gardening.

The not-for profit society buys compost, grow-bags fertilizers and other garden sundries and sells them on to allotment holders and other gardeners in Hyndburn and the surrounding area.

Society treasurer Frank McVan said: “Because we buy in bulk direct from the wholesaler we are able to keep the cost down and are very competitive with the garden centres, but have the added bonus that our committee have years of garden experience behind them.

“We are open to new members and membership is £3, which includes membership and the protection of the National Society, who were very helpful in our recent fight against allotment price increases and in helping us establish workable allotment rules.”

The cabin is based on the cycle track by Hollins Technology College in Baxenden and opens from 10am-12noon on Sundays until the end of August.
