CIVIC ARTS CENTRE

- EMMA HOLDEN

DURING April, we will see so many varied events at The Civic and first, we welcome back the fabulous team behind last year’s pantomime.

Immersion Theatre will bring their larger-than-life musical, Alice in Wonderland, to the Civic on Sunday, April 2, at 2.30pm.

Tickets are £10 for adults, £8 for concessions or £32 for a family of four.

Immersion Theatre proudly bring their trademark energy to their most spectacularly bonkers show to date. Join the hilarity of seeing this classic story brought vividly to life before having the opportunity to meet the characters after the show. You are also invited to dress up as your favourite character to join in the fun. A perfect day out for the entire family, you’d be mad to miss it!

We have a weekend of comedy lined up, with comedian Colin Manford, brother of Jason Manford and Oswaldtwistle pub landlord, now adding another title to his growing collection – Actor!

On April 7, Colin will be performing on the Civic Theatre’s stage in two episodes of Hancock’s Half Hour. A tribute to Tony Hancock and the 60’s radio and TV show. Tickets are £8.50 each and the show starts at 7.30pm.

Then on Sunday night, the award-winning Manford’s Comedy Club returns, with a line-up of Fern Brady, Josh Pugh, Sofie Hagan and Tom Houghton. Tickets usually sell out – so don’t leave it too late.

Tickets are £12.50 and can be booked at www. manfordscomedyclub.com.

Our Easter half-term events offer something for the kids to enjoy and even take part in. Dramatic Annie, based at the Civic, is a youth drama group and will be running its Beatrix Potter themed Play-in-a-Week.

Children from ages 3-16 can attend workshops Monday to Thursday from 9am to 3pm, working towards a play on Thursday evening at 7pm. The cost for the week is just £30 per child and the show is £3 per ticket. Please call us to enquire about booking a place.

On Easter Sunday, we have an interactive children’s storytime and party.

The Easter Bunny’s Surprise follows the same fun format as our previous Gruffalo and Stickman parties, but with a brand-new story and characters. Join in with an hour of games and crafts then sit back and watch the story come to life.

Tickets are £7.50 for children and £3 for adults and includes free tea and coffee for the adults and a drink and biscuits for the children.
