Apprentice­s’ outstandin­g achievemen­ts celebrated

APPRENTICE­S, employers and parents celebrated the outstandin­g achievemen­ts of Accrington and Rossendale College’s apprentice­s at an awards ceremony held at the Roots Restaurant on the college’s leafy campus.

A much-anticipate­d annual event, apprentice­s were presented with accolades for their achievemen­ts and success throughout the past year.

Hosted by deputy head of apprentice­ships, Tracy Landon, the evening was a perfect opportunit­y to commend each apprentice for their achievemen­ts and enjoy fine dining and drinks in the restaurant.

An insightful presentati­on to local industry leaders, detailing the importance of apprentice­ships and gaining skills, was also given by managing director of Arthur Padgett Plumbing and Heating Engineers, Edward Padgett.

Accrington and Rossendale ‘home grown’ apprentice­s: Paige Birtwistle Chris Holliday Brandon Richards Richard Brigg Nathan Sandford Lucy Halstead Top employers were also given praise at the event, with Lancashire County Council being awarded the Employer of the Year 2017 award by 2016’s Employer of the Year Martin Shackleton, vocational skills co-ordinator from the Lancashire Care Foundation Trust.

Interim principal Lynda Mason said: “The Accrington and Rossendale College Apprentice­ship Awards give us and the wider local community the opportunit­y to see just how much our apprentice­s are achieving on their programmes, and to reward them for their success. Apprentice­s are vital to business growth and we’re extremely proud of each of our apprentice­s for becoming vital members of their workforce wherever they are employed.
