Apprentices’ outstanding achievements celebrated

APPRENTICES, employers and parents celebrated the outstanding achievements of Accrington and Rossendale College’s apprentices at an awards ceremony held at the Roots Restaurant on the college’s leafy campus.
A much-anticipated annual event, apprentices were presented with accolades for their achievements and success throughout the past year.
Hosted by deputy head of apprenticeships, Tracy Landon, the evening was a perfect opportunity to commend each apprentice for their achievements and enjoy fine dining and drinks in the restaurant.
An insightful presentation to local industry leaders, detailing the importance of apprenticeships and gaining skills, was also given by managing director of Arthur Padgett Plumbing and Heating Engineers, Edward Padgett.

Accrington and Rossendale ‘home grown’ apprentices: Paige Birtwistle Chris Holliday Brandon Richards Richard Brigg Nathan Sandford Lucy Halstead Top employers were also given praise at the event, with Lancashire County Council being awarded the Employer of the Year 2017 award by 2016’s Employer of the Year Martin Shackleton, vocational skills co-ordinator from the Lancashire Care Foundation Trust.
Interim principal Lynda Mason said: “The Accrington and Rossendale College Apprenticeship Awards give us and the wider local community the opportunity to see just how much our apprentices are achieving on their programmes, and to reward them for their success. Apprentices are vital to business growth and we’re extremely proud of each of our apprentices for becoming vital members of their workforce wherever they are employed.
