Fans’ honours wall

-

STANLEY supporters can write their name in the club’s history with the creation of an ‘honours wall.’

The wall lists the names of all those supporters who helped raise funds towards a big screen at the ground. Supporters were invited to bid for the chance to have their names on the board as part of the ‘Up in Lights’ campaign to pay for the screen.

Stanley hit the target of £20,000 in February and the honours wall has since been put up at the Fanzone at the Wham Stadium.

For information about how to apply to have your name on the wall visit the supporters club desk in the fanzone on matchdays.

ACCRINGTON Stanley kept up their impressive run of form after picking up a victory against rivals Morecambe on Tuesday.

Two goals from Shay McCartan were enough for the Reds, despite a late strike for Morecambe from Aaron Wildig.

The victory saw Stanley climb to 14th, while Morecambe are now in 16th after five straight defeats.

The club are also dealing with troubles off the pitch, but Stanley boss John Coleman paid tribute to their opponents and the management staff for their efforts during a tough time.

“I have a lot of respect for Jim Bentley and a lot of time for the staff there as people. After the dust has settled from Tuesday’s game, we want them to do as well as they can in the league,” he said.

“They’ve done really well to have success due to the adversity they’ve faced, and we know firsthand at Accrington about how difficult it can be.”

Stanley were quick out of the blocks at the start of the match and almost took the lead when Noor Husin’s shot hit the post after just four minutes.

McCartan was the next to go close when he shot just wide, before Sean McConville’s effort narrowly went over on 15 minutes.

Morecambe tried to make Accrington pay for their wasted opportunities, but they failed to test Marek Rodak with any of their opportunities.

Stanley continued to threaten and their hard work was finally rewarded on the stroke of half-time when McCartan found the net.

The Reds won a free kick, allowing McCartan to step up and curl it into
