Coley: Keep unbeaten run going until the end

-

JOHN Coleman has set his Accrington Stanley side the target of keeping their unbeaten run going until the end of the season.

The Reds have been in great form over the past month, winning four of their last five matches to see them climb up to 14th place in the League Two table, now 15 points clear of relegation.

That included a 2-1 win over Morecambe on Tuesday, and Coleman now hopes they can keep up their run.

“We are still unbeaten and the aim is to go the end of the season unbeaten – the lads are trying to achieve that,” he told the club’s official website. “In the main we have played really well in our last eight games. We are not going to clock off once we are mathematically safe from relegation, we are on an unbeaten run and I am glad the lads have kept that going.”

Stanley’s lone draw during their last five matches came on Saturday when their match at Yeovil Town finished 1-1. The Reds managed to earn a point despite having Scott Brown sent off on 77 minutes, and Coleman thought a point was a good result for his side.

“At Yeovil, I felt we started well but then didn’t pass the ball well or defend properly and they were on top when Scott Brown was sent off,” he said. “We have no complaints. There is no malice in Scott, the team needed a lift but it was a crunching tackle and you can’t do them anymore. It merited a red and he is felt sick about it.

“We then got a goal and we were disappointed we didn’t hold on but for us to get a point shows the character of the players. Yeovil will be disappointed they didn’t get all three.”
