THREE Hyndburn foster parents are celebrating after winning prizes at an awards ceremony.

Lancashire County Council held the ceremony at Hoghton Village Hall to recognise the hard work and achievements of foster carers in Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.

Shelly and Stephen Ainscough, from Rishton, were named ‘foster family of the year’ while Angela and Les Gallagher, from Accrington, were named ‘friends and family foster carer of the year’.

Diane and Tony Bartley, from Rishton, received the award for ‘outstanding contribution to children in our care’.

All three couples will go through to a grand final event in June to decide the countywide winners.

Georgine Lee, senior manager of the fostering and adoption team at Lancashire County Coun- cil, said: “All of our foster carers work tirelessly to improve the lives of looked after children in Lancashire and we wanted to do something to recognise their efforts.

“Well done to our win- ning foster carers, there were many deserving nominations and it was a tough job for our judges to shortlist the winners.”
