TRAIN WOES

NORTHERN Rail has announced timetables for services during industrial action on Friday, April 28.

The operator expects to run 40 per cent of services and more than 300 extra rail replacemen­t buses. Services affected in Accrington include the Hebden Bridge - Blackburn and Blackpool North - Burnley Central lines.

Most services will run from 7am - 7pm, though routes will start to wind down from late afternoon.

EX-RED A ‘HERO’

FORMER Stanley star James Beattie was hailed a hero after helping rescue two young children and their mum from a sinking yacht.

Beattie, 38, leaped into action and joined three passengers in the rescue act after the pleasure boat was in collision with the chain ferry in Poole Harbour in Dorset.

The former Reds player-coach and manager jumped out of his car to lift the children to safety after hearing the mum shout “get my children off”.

HELP SOUGHT

POLICE are appealing for the public’s help to find a man with links to Accrington.

Officers would like to speak to Daniel Harwood in connection with an ongoing investigat­ion into a quantity of class A drugs recovered from a vehicle.

The 25-year-old is described as white, of medium build with a tattoo on his neck and has links to the Accrington, Blackburn, Rossendale and Haslingden areas.
