£2m development of park moves ahead of schedule
A £2 million revamp to Rhyddings Park is said to be ahead of schedule.
It has been three weeks since the Oswaldtwistle development project began, which is being funded by The Heritage Lottery Fund Park for People.
It will see the restoration of the Coach House, to create a refreshed community venue, and a walled garden.
So far, contractors have taken out plants in the upper woodland area of the park and cleared the rockery area ready for plants.
Social enterprise Newground are looking at installing lighting for a performance space, which stone blocks have been moved from the Folly area for. The fencing and wall has been taken down in the old pets corner and will be reused elsewhere, and the Orchard will be set up in its place.
In the next two months, the performance area will be completed, paths in the Woodland and around the park will be renovated, preparations will be made in the Orchard area and contractors will begin to clear the main entrance.
The landscape is due to be completed in August, with ongoing work to continue on Coach House and in planting season.
