RUNNERS from Hyndburn did the borough proud at the London Marathon.

Fitness fans Alex Johnson, from Great Harwood, and Natalie Wright, from Oswaldtwistle, ran in aid of cerebral palsy charity The Bobath Centre.

The friends work together at Body One Ltd exercise and personal training studio in Great Harwood.

Alex completed the race in four hours 52 minutes while Natalie’s finishing time was four hours 21 minutes and they are hoping to have raised £2,000 in total.

Florist Catherine Derbyshire, from Clayton-le-Moors, and her cousin Julie Preston raised more than £2,400 for Pancreatic Cancer UK. Catherine ran the marathon in a speedy 3:29:52 while Julie clocked 5:20:15.

Kerry Smith, cultural service manager with Hyndburn Leisure, overcame mid-race sickness to finish the race in five and a half hours. She is raising money for leisure projects within the borough, with over £440 so far collected on her fundraising page.
