THE ROTARY CLUB OF ACCRINGTON

-

THE last meeting was held to plan the club actions and activities for the next 12 months.

These will support our local community plus the wider national and international scene and helps fulfil our motto ‘Service Above Self,’ through meaningful community and international service projects which characterise Rotary clubs worldwide.

At a local level the next project will be a litterpicking exercise in Peel Park, followed by bag-packing in Asda to raise funds for ‘Blood Bikes.’

We will be actively involved in stewarding the Ribble Valley Ride in June (www.ribblevalleyride. org).

Our international service in the coming months will include a ‘Shoebox Appeal’ and we will continue with support for the ‘Purple4Polio’ campaign to eradicate the disease worldwide.

Rotarians from Lancashire and Cumbria will gather in Blackburn Cathedral from June 22 to 25 to celebrate the centenary of Rotary Foundation with an exhibition and a church service.

The displays will include work on projects from: Polio Eradication, Global Grants on Wheelchair Foundation, Village in Sri Lanka affected by the Tsunami, Fishing Boats from the Philippines, First Responders, Mary’s Meals, Nepal Water Projects and many others.

We look forward to showcasing the voluntary work we undertake.

We have a busy and fruitful year ahead and look forward to supporting those who need a helping hand, or two.
