ENID COXHILL

MRS Enid Coxhill, of Woodlands HFE and formerly of Westwood Street, Accrington, died on Wednesday, May 10 aged 88.

She was a wages supervisor at Enfield Manufactur­ing.

She enjoyed caravannin­g, reading and knitting.

She was the wife of the late Ronnie Coxhill and leaves her children Ian, Lesley and Glyn.

She was the mother-inlaw of Barbara, David and Cheryl, grandmothe­r of Andrew, Marc, Steven and Luke and great grandmothe­r of Daisy Beau.

The funeral service, conducted by Pete Cox, was held on Wednesday, May 17 at 11am. This was followed by her cremation at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

MICHAEL COHEN

MR Michael Cohen, of Ambleside Close, Huncoat, died on Wednesday, May 10, aged 85.

Michael started his working life as a bus driver in Lancaster where he met his wife Vera before moving to Huncoat.

He continued his driving career for Ribble, Blackburn, until 1991 and finally retired from his late son’s firm, Altham Engineerin­g Ltd.

Michael enjoyed fly fishing and was an avid Blackburn Rovers fan – he enjoyed watching at Ewood Park.

He also enjoyed travelling abroad with his late wife Vera.

He was the husband of his late wife Vera and father of his late son Nigel.

He leaves son Rodney, daughters-in-law Margery and Jill and grandchild­ren Christophe­r, Jordan, Matthew and Daniel.

The funeral service, conducted by the Rev Phil Norris, will be held at Accrington Crematoriu­m on Friday, May 19 at 1pm with the cremation at Accrington Crematoriu­m Chapel.

FREDA THOMASON

MRS Freda Thomason, of Victoria Avenue, Baxenden, died on Friday, May 12, aged 88.

She was an active member of the church of St John the Baptist, Baxenden.

She was a keen gardener and flower arranger.

She enjoyed walking her dogs when she was younger and holidays with husband John visiting Israel, Egypt and Italy.

She was the widow of John and leaves son Gordon, grandchild­ren Steven, Janine and Adelyn, and great grandchild­ren Alfie, Lois, Benjamin and Lily.

The funeral service, conducted by the Rev Donaghey, will be held on Monday, May 22 at 11.40am at Accrington Crematoriu­m. This will be followed by her cremation.

KENNETH WADE

MR Kenneth Wade, of Accrington, sadly passed away on Monday, May 1, at Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 91.

He leaves behind his much loved wife Doreen, children Teena, Michael and Keith, son-in-law Brian and daughter-inlaw Avril, grandchild­ren Paul, Simon, Adam, Rebecca, Oliver and Alicia and greatgrand­children Madison, Dakota and Jonathan.

He was also a dear friend to many.

Born and raised in Rising Bridge, Ken attended Accrington Grammar School and upon leaving, he worked for a short period at the Accrington Observer.

During the war years Ken was sent down the mines as a Bevin Boy and worked at various coal mines in the northwest and northeast of England.

He went on to be a HGV driver working for a number of haulage companies including Rothwell’s, W&J Riding and finally Gilbraith Tankers until his retirement.

Ken enjoyed camping, boating and fishing as well as ballroom dancing, crown green bowling and helping with learning disability groups including: The Peter Pan Club, D.A.S.H and A.D.A.

He was also a member of Rising Bridge WMC, where his father was president for a number of years.

His funeral service will be held at Accrington Crematoriu­m on Monday, May 22 at 10.20am.

IRENE UNDERWOOD

MRS Irene Underwood, of Ormerod Street, Accrington, died at home on Sunday, May 7, aged 74.

Irene was a care assistant at Norwood House for the Elderly.

She enjoyed darts and dominoes and holidays to the Dominican Republic.

Irene leaves her children Audrey, Alison and Malcolm, grandchild­ren Cam, Kirsten, Emma, Nathan and twins Jade and Aaron, and greatgrand­children Amelia Louise and Hailie Louise.

Her funeral will take place on Monday, May 22, at 3pm at Accrington Crematoriu­m, officiated by the minister Mrs Judith Talbot.

NELLIE DUCKWORTH

MRS Nellie Duckworth, of Hippings Vale, Oswaldtwis­tle, died on Tuesday, May 9 at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 90.

Nellie worked at Vine Mill in Oswaldtwis­tle as a weaver and spinner for many years.

Then she worked at Sew and Sew as a sewing machine operator until her retirement.

She was a member of Immanuel Church.

Nellie enjoyed ballroom dancing with her late husband James Duckworth for many years.

She also had a love for travelling.

Reunited with her much loved husband James, dearly loved mother of Peter, the late Philip and daughter-inlaw Anne, treasured nan to Carl, Christophe­r, Stephen and Catherine, Theresa, Hayley and Daniel in Australia and a loving great nanna to all her greatgrand­children.

Her funeral took place on Wednesday, May 17, at Immanuel Church, conducted by the Reverend Martin Joss.

GRACE HOLDEN

MRS Grace Holden, of Windsor Avenue, died on Monday, May 8, aged 90.

She worked for British Rail as a shorthand typist.

Grace was a member of St James Church Accrington and was a Sunday School teacher there.

She liked gardening and listening to music, she also loved the theatre as well as holidays in Scotland and Cornwall.

Beloved wife of Derek, sister of Frances and Ray, auntie to Richard, Mathew and Philip, sister-in-law to Alan, Jean, David and Karen.

Her funeral was held on Wednesday, May 17, at St James Church, Accrington, officiated by the Reverend Ian Penticott, followed by cremation in Accrington.

LILLIAN ALLEN

MRS Lillian Allen, of Church, Accrington, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at Royal Blackburn Hospital, on Thursday, May 11, aged 87.

Lillian was retired and in her spare time she enjoyed nature, gardening, history and reading.

Lillian leaves daughter Heather, son Adam, son and daughter-in-law Alan and Jeanette, grandchild­ren Karen, Angela, Julie, Boyd, Zoe, Marc, Claire, Aleshia and Falon, and greatgrand­children Joanne, Anthony, Siobhan, Joseph, Cameron, Riley, Junior, Diamond-Rose, Bayley, Lexy, Evie-Lee and Makala.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 23, at Accrington Crematoriu­m, at 1.40pm, conducted by the Minister Ken Howles.

BRUCE WILSON

MR Bruce Wilson, of Great Harwood, aged 71, passed away peacefully in East Lancs Hospice, on Monday, May 15.

Bruce was a joiner/ cabinet maker at Sports Vehicles Ltd, Whalley until his retirement.

He was a keen gardener, loved woodworkin­g, liked his music, holidays abroad, spending time with his family and many friends and he spent many an happy hour tinkering in his garage.

A service will be held at St Bartholome­w’s and St John’s Parish Church, Great Harwood on Wednesday, May 24 at 12 noon, followed by Committal at Accrington Crematoriu­m at 1pm.

NORMA TRICKETT

NORMA Trickett, of Springhill Care Home and formerly of Aspen Lane, Oswaldtwis­tle, died peacefully in hospital on Saturday, May 13, aged 74.

During her working life Norma had a varied career and worked at the Stanhill Ring Mill, Blythes Chemicals before later working for Asda up until she retired.

In her spare time she loved spending time with her family, she also enjoyed being a member of the Mothers Union at All Saints Church in Oswaldtwis­tle as well as reading books, doing crosswords and listening to music.

Norma sadly leaves behind her dearly loved husband Michael and her much loved daughters Michelle, Jeanette, Maxine and Joanne.

She will be sadly missed by all her loving family and friends.

Her funeral service will be held at 10.30am on Tuesday, May 30 at Immanuel Parish Church, Oswaldtwis­tle, prior to interment in the church yard.
