FOSTERS LANCASHIRE LEAGUE CRICKET SHELDAN KEAY

ENFIELD Cricket Club were big winners in their Lancashire League match last weekend after they defeated Rawtenstall by eight wickets.

The match at Dill Hall Lane saw Rawtenstall bat first, but they struggled to have any major impact, with just Tabassum Aziz (14) and professional Andrew Payne (10) passing double figures.

It meant that Rawtenstall were bowled all out for just 83 after 38 overs, with Liam Jackson (4-33) and Simon O’Loughlin (3-17) impressing with the ball for Enfield.

Enfield lost opener Lewis Wright for three runs, but it didn’t take them long to recover after that minor blip, with professional Dharaka Ravi Teja hitting an unbeaten 24 while Liam Jackson and Charlie Jackson chipped in with 22 and 17 respectively to help their team reach the target in just 22 overs.

CHURCH came out on top against East Lancashire after a 13 run win at Alexandra Meadows.

Church won the toss and decided to bat, but got off to a poor start after cheaply losing professional Zain Abbas (8) and Josh Scully (9).

Levi Wolfenden got things back on track with 58 from just 62 balls, while Francis Kinsella scored 42 from 55 balls further down the order as Church finished 192 all out.

It looked like East Lancs may struggle to get close to their target after finding themselves 13-3 at one stage, but Mo Bhada (37), MG Cattermull (33), professional Andries Gous (28) and Mark Lomas (28 not out) ensured it would be a closely fought battle.

It didn’t matter in the end, as East Lancs fell short and were bowled all out for 179, handing Church a narrow win.

RISHTON suffered an extremely close defeat after losing at The Horsfield against Colne by just one run.

Colne were put into bat first after Rishton won the toss, but professional Unmukt Chand could only top score with 18 as his team were bowled all out for 99.

Bradley Boddie (23) and Ali Hasham (21) were Rishton’s highest scorers, but only two more of their teammates reached double figures.

Despite that, it looked like Rishton may get the win when they needed just one run to level the scores, but their final wicket then fell as they suffered an agonising defeat.

GREAT HARWOOD were handed a heavy defeat after they lost by 211 runs at home to Haslingden.

It was Haslingden who batted first after winning the toss at Cliffe Park, with openers Graham Knowles (53) and Chris Cook-Martin (26) putting on 91 for the first wicket.

Big scores from Alex Coleman (74 not out) and Lewis McIntosh (64) also helped as Haslingden finished on 289-4 at the end of their 50 overs.

Great Harwood professional Ashen Silva made 44 for his team as they tried to respond, but he was the only one to reach double figures as his remaining 10 teammates managed just 18 runs between them.

It meant that Great Harwood were bowled all out for just 78 runs inside 30 overs, with Nick Benton finishing as the pick of the bowlers for Haslingden with figures of 6-45.

ACCRINGTON were also beaten in their match after losing by 24 runs against Clitheroe at Chatburn Road.

Clitheroe won the toss and decided to bat first, but could only finish on 152-9, with Ali Ross top scoring with 36.

It seemed to be a reachable target for Accrington, but a collapse in the middle of the order saw them go from 56-2 to 84-7.
