The four-storey soft play area includes a large slide and baby and toddler zones (website and p21) Emma Hilton: We’ll come see you and have a play soon xx Casee Malakian Leigh: Wicked! Had no idea this was being built, my 3 year old will LOVE it. Shirley Yuan: Just been there, it’s so busy today. Fee Burns: A trip with the kids one day? Elizabeth Watt: This looks fab! X

THOUSANDS flock to Great Harwood Show, but organisers said numbers were down on previous years due to security fears following the Manchester attack (website and Observer, June 2) Carla Mclennan: We didn’t go, not because of the security fear but the sheer price of entry! For my family it would be short of £30. That’s pretty steep to watch animals and see some cars, not to mention the food prices would have been steep and then stalls etc. It ends up being quite a costly day out for some people. Sian McNeilly: Same but would of been over £40 for us just to get in. Not a cheap day out, when you need to get there and then buy food etc... Vicki Norman: Cheaper than most agricultural shows! Sue Sheridan Gaskin: Totally agree would cost me £29 just to get in then rides, games and food on top, expensive day out if you ask me! I was going to go until I found out the prices! Damo Miller: £22 family ticket, great price. Had a great day see you next year. Carla Mclennan: Yes for two adults and two children, there isn’t for of us, there is five. Six next year. Then the cost of food for five of us, then no doubt the kids will want to go on rides and have a play on some stalls, it adds up to a ridiculous amount for literally an hour or two. Whereas that money can be a full day out to some families? Damo Miller: Should do yourself a picnic bag like us next time, saves you loads of money and you don’t have to let your kids go on everything, to be honest it’s up to the individuals how much they want to spend. Paula Tomlinson Carus: Family ticket is 2 adults 3 kids. Children under 4 are free. Pat Mcginley: HELLO, I am a great supporter of the show, but believe security had little to do with lower figures of attendance. Police presence was higher than ever seen and hats off to the local police team and their commander. The real problems were the overcast weather as it looked as if it may rain at any time - and the cost of the day for families. Surely entry prices could be lowered as the cost for food is prohibitive as the vendors pay exceptionally high rents. The events were brilliant but it has to be about balance. I will do all I can to support the show but lower entrance fees means more will enter - and spend money in the grounds. Fran Burrows: I didn’t want to spend the money paying to take my family in on what was a miserable wet day – didn’t even consider for a second the recent terrorist attack in Manchester and think most people wouldn’t have either! David Baker: Great prices but not sure if entrance fee is good idea. Perhaps let everyone in for free and they can spend once there. Most will probably donate more than the entrance fee anyway. Cindy Rhodes: The price difference from last year was a 50p increase for adults, children and concessions were exactly the same. Please understand that the costs of putting on the show have increased significantly in recent years. We always endeavour to keep the show affordable and appreciate the feedback. If you have any suggestions on how we can improve please let us know. In addition if there are any of you that would like to volunteer to help organise the show it would be very much welcomed. Amanda Arbuthnot Taylor: Please do not use the horrendous attack as an excuse. Absolutely nothing to do with that. It’s the price that has put everyone off! Tracey Jayne: If the admittance price was cheaper they would get more people going. Pamela Yates: Too expensive for a family to go, and the weather was horrible. Nothing to do with Manchester. Kay Aspinall: Nothing to do with security, you shouldn’t have to pay to go in to spend money, that’s why we didn’t go. Jane Hogg: Totally agree - I was on a community stall and all people mentioned was the cost of entry and over priced food. Carole Steel: It’s certainly not a cheap day for a family of five, I’m sure we didn’t pay when mum and dad took us many years ago. Natasha Read: I think it was more to do with the weather and ridiculous ticket prices. Shirley Hardman: We didn’t go cause I spent nearly £70 last year. Briggs Michelle: Was expensive and not as much entertainment as there usually is and foods so expensive. Catherine Cheesman: Too much rain and crazy entrance prices! Jemma Louise Holden: We didn’t go this year as weather for one, price for two, and security fears for three. Zander Sumner: Nowt to do with the weather and prices then? Sam Lane: It’s good but cost too much but it’s free for me every year. Michelle Whittam: Love it! xx
