MRS Jane Stanley, of Addison Court, Accrington died peacefully on Sunday, May 28, aged 96.

Born in Clayton-leMoors, Jane lived most of her life in the Accrington area, apart from a short time in Keighley.

In her working life Jane worked at English Electric Company, Howard and Bullough and finally at Moreleys Bakery in Accrington.

With her late husband Bill she enjoyed holidays in Morecambe and the Isle of Man. In her later life she obtained her first passport and travelled to Malta, Austria and on two Mediterran­ean cruises with family.

The beloved widow of the late Bill, she leaves her much loved son David, loved grandaught­er Dawn, and cherished great-grandchild­ren Liam and Ella and daughter-inlaw Pauline.

Her funeral service and committal will be held on Friday, June 9 at Accrington Crematoriu­m at 2.20pm.

Family flowers only please but donations in memory of Jane may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society care of Hyndburn Funeral Service, Queens Road, Accrington. MR Charles Allan Duckworth, of Sherwood House, Clifton Street, Rishton, died on Monday, May 29 at Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 89.

Charles started work as an apprentice carpenter at Howard and Bullough’s. He then went on to become a cricket bat maker in Accrington.

He served in the Royal Marines and ran a carpenter’s shop in Malta.

He also worked at Mullards/Phillips.

Charles was an electricia­n at Brooke Bond Oxo, Great Harwood for more than 25 years. He retired in 1985.

He was previously a member of Sabden Bowling Club and a member of St Wulstan’s Church, Great Harwood.

Charles played for Enfield and Rishton Cricket Clubs in the 1950s. He also enjoyed crown green bowling and snooker.

He leaves son Michael, daughter Lynne, daughter-in-law Mary, son-in-law Nick, grandchild­ren Keith, Helen, Nicholas, Amanda and Nicola, greatgrand­children Harley, Katie, Alex, Daniel, Ethan and Ella.

His funeral will be held on Friday, June 9 with a service at 10am at St Wulstun’s Church, Great Harwood followed by a burial at Great Harwood Cemetery at 11am officiated by Father A Clarke. Family flowers only please with donations if desired to the British Heart Foundation and/or Cancer Research.

JANET Whithead, of Charles Street, Oswaldtwis­tle died on Saturday, May 27, aged 71.

She worked in Howard and Bullough’s and Walkers Steel payroll department. She also worked as a hairdresse­r.

Janet was a member of St Mary’s Church, a scout leader for more than 20 years and a member of St Daley, Skylar and the late Jack, as he was also Mary’s pantomime group Lilith. known, was a painter and for more than 20 years. His funeral will take place at 3pm on Monday, June 12 at Accrington Crematoriu­m, officiated by Rev Brian Stevenson.
