MR Thomas Henry Sowerbutts, of Blackburn and formerly Accrington, sadly passed away on Friday, June 9, aged 74.

Harry, as he was known, grew up in Huncoat and worked down the mine in the area before working for over 30 years at Redac Brickworks in Huncoat. He then worked for Philips Components in Altham.

Harry had many hobbies and interests, his favourite was golf. He was a member of Baxenden Golf Club for many years. Harry enjoyed walking, gardening and days out in the country and seaside. He also loved his holidays with his wife Jeanne, especially cruises.

He was son to the late Thomas and Lucy Sowerbutts, brother to the late Marjorie, Eddie and Marion, dear and loving husband to Jeanne. Devoted father to Debra and Lynn, he was stepfather to Fiona, Craig and Neil, loving grandad to Thomas, Jake and Luke. He was father-in-law to Jim, Phil and Kev, step grandad and great-grandad to Becky, Leisha, Sam, Chris, Michael and Craig, Emma, Annabelle, Amy, Amelia and Megan.

Harry was also a dear friend to many, especially his lifelong friendship with Peter Ashworth.

A funeral service will be at 10.45am on Tuesday, June 20 at Pleasingto­n Crematoriu­m, Blackburn followed by cremation.

Family flowers only, donations can be made in memory of Harry to his treasured charity “When you wish upon a star” c/o funeral director WM Alty & Sons Ltd, Broomfield Place, Witton, Blackburn.
