AN Accrington couple are celebrating the birth of their little bundle of joy — the 5,000th baby to be born at Blackburn Birth Centre.

Kinga Foley, 28, gave birth to seven pound four ounce son Logan at 11.30pm on Saturday, June 10.

Proud mum Kinga said finding out her new arrival was the 5,000th baby to be delivered at the birth centre came as a ‘surprise’.

She said: “I was not expecting it when I came in, but it is a nice surprise and a lovely little memento to look back on.

“All the staff have been amazing at the birth centre, they are all really nice, helpful and caring, and it is a really nice place to give birth as everything is close by.”

The ‘good’ rated centre opened in 2010 and is led by a team of midwives.

Angela O’Toole, head of midwifery at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “Our team has accomplished so much in the past six-and-a-half years it’s been a pleasure to welcome five thousand babies into the world.

“What makes Blackburn Birth Centre the best choice for having a baby is the entire team who are committed to making each family’s delivery experience unique and special for them.”
