MR Anthony Kennedy, of Clement Street, Accrington, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, aged 89.

He was a foreman for a vehicle body builder at Gilbraiths until he was 55. He then worked at Acorn Lodge as a handyman and care assistant for 10 years until he retired.

A member of St Mary’s Amateur Dramatics, he loved holidays in Scotland with his late wife Sheelagh and was a big family man, especially towards his grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren.

Husband to late wife Sheelagh, he leaves sister Jean and children Paul, Michael, Marie, Susan and Catherine.

Father-in-law to George, Dom, Billy and Linda, he was grandad to Gemma, Jamie, Amy, Kirsty, Danielle, Lauren and Joshua, and great-grandad to Ruby, Phoebe and Isabelle.

The family would like to thank the staff at C1 and C3 at Royal Blackburn Hospital, Routes Healthcare, District Nurses, Hope House, Dr Joseph and staff at Dill Hall Surgery, Sonia and Peter from Hyndburn Funerals for all the care, dignity and respect given to Tony and his family.

His funeral service was due to be held at 3pm on Thursday, June 22, at Accrington Crematoriu­m, administer­ed by David Ireland, followed by cremation.

Family flowers only please, however donations, if desired, suggested to Dementia UK, c/o Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington.
