MR Edward Morne, of Warmden Avenue, Baxenden, died on Wednesday, June 14, at Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 87.

He worked at Howard and Bullough’s, Accrington in 1945 before then working for Alan E. Dent until 1951.

An electrical engineer, he served in the RAF during his National Service, following which he worked for Lupton Brothers in the 1950s until 1972.

Following this he worked for Blackburn Power Station from 1972 until 1974 before working for Padiham Power Station up until his retirement in 1991.

He was a past member of Willow Mount WMC, Miners’ WMC, Accrington Camera Club and Accrington Cycling Club. He was a keen amateur photograph­er in his spare time. He also enjoyed completing crosswords and home-made beer.

He leaves daughter Gillian, son Clive, and was grandfathe­r to Jacklyn, John, Daniel and Rebecca and a great-grandfathe­r.

His funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, June 23, at Accrington Crematoriu­m, administer­ed by Ken Howles, followed by committal. Flowers are welcome and donations, if desired, are suggested to Macmillan.
