Phenomenal photos and seaside snaps!

THE Accrington Camera Club annual exhibition was opened by the Mayor and Mayoress of Hyndburn, Coun Peter Britcliffe and Ms Sara Britcliffe on Friday, June 9.

In attendance were the president and vice president of Accrington Camera Club, Ian Kitchin and Harry Emmett, along with the president of Lancashire and Cheshire Photograph­ic Union, Garth Tighe.

There are a wide range of photograph­s on show and include a selection of digitally enhanced work showing how different effects can be created on an original image.

Anyone who wishes to discover more about the art of photograph­y can join members of Accrington Camera Club on Sunday, July 9, at 2pm, when they will be giving a lecture on photograph­y and various Photoshop techniques.

This lecture is free and there is no need to book, but you are advised to arrive early to secure your seat. For our younger visitors, Haworth Art Gallery’s ‘Mrs Maker’ will be leading a summer workshop to create a ‘seaside picture’ that you can take home. This free workshop takes place in the education room at the gallery on Sunday, July 9, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm and there is no need to book.

The gallery is open Tuesday to Friday, noon to 4.45pm, Saturday; Sunday, noon to 4.15pm; closed all day Monday. Free entrance and parking.
