ACCRINGTON CAMERA CLUB
OUR annual exhibition is currently on show at Haworth Art Gallery, with almost 120 prints and a display of digital images available for visitors to view until Sunday, July 30.
It features a wide variety of subjects and styles, both in colour and monochrome, created by members over the past 12 months. Many won or were commended in our recent annual competition.
The exhibition was opened with a preview night at the gallery featuring Hyndburn mayor Peter Britcliffe, mayoress – his daughter Sara – and president of the Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union Garth Tighe.
Mr Tighe addressed the audience, saying how much he had enjoyed viewing the prints and talked about the longevity of Accrington Camera Club, which was established in 1902 and has exhibited at the Haworth for most of that time.
We also celebrated the opening of the exhibition with a meal at Sykeside Country House Hotel in Rawtenstall, where the award winners from the annual competition were presented with their trophies and certificates and a raffle was also held to raise money for club funds.
Another club social event takes place this Saturday (July 1), with one of our members, Barry Noon, organising a club photographic trip to Ingleton waterfalls.
Our meeting tonight (Friday) will feature members’ prints submitted to the annual competition which we were unable to fit into the exhibition at the Haworth and also an update on our proposed 2018 calendar.
The meeting will start at 7.45pm at the Primetime Centre, Stourton Street, Rishton.
Visitors and prospective members both welcome. See our website accringtoncameraclub. org.uk for more.
