History was made by the Hyndburn Sea Cadets in the early 1990s when girls were allowed into the unit for the first time in 50 years.

Members of Immanuel Church in Oswaldtwistle, and the church’s cricket club, performed the timeless fairytale Sleeping B Beauty.

Ruth Clare, a member of the church choir, played the title role and her b brother Adam Butterw worth was the prince.

The pantomine turned i into a real family affair with the duo’s father Eric Butterworth as Buttons and Ruth’s husband Phil and her brother-in-law taking on the role of ministers.

‘Masochism pays’ was t the message from fundr raisers (left) who completed a gruelling Army assault course for Barn nardo’s. Seven teams from Hyndburn took part at the Fulwood barracks and raised £600.
