CIVIC ARTS CENTRE

- Lauren Stirzaker

WE are getting into the swing of our holiday clubs this week with over 70 children taking part in our Roald Dahl week.

We still have a few places left in our other holiday clubs: Magical Movies, Mamma Mia and Grease. The children rehearse and create shows from Monday to Friday with a show for parents to watch on the Friday. Please give us a call if you would like to book your child on to one of these.

On the theme of children’s events, we also have two brilliant shows coming up in August. We have Billionaire Boy by David Walliams on Thursday, August 10, at 6pm and we have Black Magic – The Little Mix Show on Saturday, August 19, at 7pm. There are only a limited amount of tickets left for both events so please book now to avoid disappointment.

In other news, we have some exciting new sessions starting this September. We have Messy Play for Babies which will run on Fridays from 10am until 11am. Messy play is an increasingly popular session for babies and is excellent for a baby’s cognitive development and creativity whilst allowing it to experience sensory play.

Babies are given various edible textures to sit in, play with, explore and, of course, eat. The ‘mess’ will vary from week to week but will include things like cereal, baked beans, jelly and pasta!

We also have a new book club starting from October 16, sewing clubs on Mondays (evening and daytime sessions available) and a French taster session on Thursday, September 14.

We are also currently looking for a freelance fitness instructor to run exercise classes to fill new exercise classes are also in the line-up.

Moving briefly into September I wanted to quickly mention that on Friday, September 1, we will be doing a very special performance of Raymond Briggs’ classic ‘When the Wind Blows’. We are offering this performance for FREE as a thank you to all of our customers for their continued support. Although tickets are free they must be reserved.

Make sure you follow our page on Facebook and visit our website for news updates and announcements.

If you would like any more information on these sessions or events or would like to book please call 01254 398319 or visit our website civicartscentre.co.uk
